Dave Coulier, beloved for his role as Joey Gladstone on Full House, has shared uplifting news in his health journey: he is officially cancer-free. The announcement came via an emotional Instagram post from his former co-star Candace Cameron Bure, who starred as D.J. Tanner alongside him on the iconic sitcom.
"DAVE IS CANCER FREE!!!!" Bure exclaimed in her post, which featured a joyful photo of herself with Coulier and his wife, Melissa. "Let's flood him with love and celebrate this incredible milestone!" The update follows Coulier's October 2024 diagnosis of stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a battle he chronicled publicly to raise awareness.
Support poured in from the Full House family, including Kelly Rizzo, widow of the late Bob Saget. "We knew this day would come! Bob's smiling down right now," Rizzo wrote in the comments, referencing Saget, who passed away in 2022.
Coulier's remission was confirmed by his representative to People magazine, coinciding with a heartfelt interview in Parade where the 65-year-old comedian shared his relief. "Hearing 'zero' cancer cells was a number I'll never forget," he quipped, referencing recent biopsy results. His prognosis brightened significantly after a negative bone marrow test boosted his cure chances to over 90%, thanks to a tailored treatment plan crafted by his wife and medical team.
The timing of his recovery couldn't be sweeter. Just days before the announcement, Coulier's son Luc and daughter-in-law Alex welcomed their first child in California. "We'll be flying out constantly to spoil our grandson," Coulier told Parade, embracing his new role as "Papa Dave."
Coulier first revealed his diagnosis in November 2024 on his podcast, Full House Rewind, where he appeared in a hat, having shaved his head preemptively before chemotherapy. He emphasized the importance of openness, citing his family's painful history with cancer—including the loss of his sister, niece, and mother. At the time, he noted his older sister was also fighting the disease.
Fans and colleagues continue to rally around Coulier, celebrating not only his resilience but also the hopeful chapter ahead as he steps into grandparenthood—a role he plans to cherish with his signature humor and heart.
