NSW Telco Is Looking for Providers of Mobile Broadband

The NSW Telco is looking for mobile broadband providers for government-owned networks.

The state's government agency is seeking to add prospective vendors to its Operational Telecommunications Equipment, Infrastructure and Services Scheme (SCM0053) that have the qualifications, ability, and experience to offer the necessary tools, infrastructure and services for mobile broadband.

The plan, a mandated whole of NSW government purchasing system that was put in place in 2013, involves the provision of functional telecoms and radio communications tools, infrastructure, and services.

The scope of the plan has now been expanded to cover mobile broadband devices, infrastructure, and services, according to the state government's posting on the NSW government's eTendering webpage. Due to growing demands from government organizations and other relevant customers, the state government noted.

It is necessary to submit an application for status as an approved or prequalified supplier in order for new providers to supply the new subcategory under the scheme.

A invited or selective request for tender round may follow, according to the government, whose search is now centered on the expression of interest for pre-qualification.

The deadline for submissions from interested parties is December 2nd.

The recent emphasis on mobile broadband by the NSW government is consistent with earlier choices made in the past year to update its connection options.

The Public Safety Mobile Broadband network, which was in a proof-of-concept phase and was set to terminate in August 2022, was being rolled out by the Authority in July of last year, and the Authority made clear its need for assistance at the time.

The Authority did, however, submit a request for information prior to the conclusion of that phase in an effort to update the market on the PSMB's current situation. For NSW and the National  Public Safety Mobile Broadband initiative, it sought out more market intelligence.

Additionally, the organization debuted their Regional Digital Connectivity project in October 2022, which aims to enhance access to digital, internet, and mobile services.
