Jack Quaid certainly knows how to capture attention. The 32-year-old actor turned heads at an NBA matchup between the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Clippers in Inglewood, California, on Sunday, March 9, by appearing increasingly injured throughout the event—a playful promotional stunt for his upcoming movie Novocaine.
Quaid initially shared a Boomerang on Instagram Stories from courtside, smiling and giving a thumbs-up while sporting facial bruises and a sling supporting his bandaged arm. Sitting next to his Novocaine co-star Amber Midthunder, Quaid progressively upped the ante: in a subsequent video posted by Pop Crave on social media, he was seen in a neck brace with his arm in a cast. Later, he humorously escalated the scene by appearing with both arms casted.
Adding to the comedic spectacle, Quaid posted another picture backstage from the event, flashing another cheerful thumbs-up. His cast humorously featured the handwritten message, "Go Clippers!"
In Novocaine, Quaid portrays Nate, a bank executive who cannot feel pain—a condition he uses to his advantage when rescuing a kidnapped coworker. The action-comedy also stars Ray Nicholson, Jacob Batalon, Betty Gabriel, and Matt Walsh.
At the film's Los Angeles premiere on March 10 at Paramount Theater, Ray Nicholson—who plays the villain opposite Quaid—shared how enjoyable it was collaborating with the actor. "Jack is just a stud. He's so talented and so nice," Nicholson noted, mentioning that despite being the same age and sharing mutual friends, this was their first collaboration.
Jack Quaid, son of Hollywood stars Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, previously opened up in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about his parents' initial hesitation regarding his acting aspirations. "They weren't initially super psyched about it because they knew how tough it was for them," he said, but added, "Ultimately they understood and were very supportive, which I'm super grateful for."
Novocaine premieres in theaters on Friday, March 14.
